Details
Take a step back in time and off the road most travelled in Okuizumo; a charming rural town with a long history of iron making. Experience ancient blacksmithing and bladesmithing techniques in an inviting atmosphere. Create a Japanese all purpose knife with the guidance of a master blacksmith who has dedicated his life to the creation of tools too numerous to count. Be amazed as he walks you through the process of shaping a block of metal into a knife and forging your very own personalised knife. Have your name inscribed on the blade itself and take home a momento that will always remind you of an experience that connects you with local people and traditional Japanese crafts.

Where to meet
Schedule
Begin your experience with a talk from the master craftsman. Learn about the process of creating your knife and hear first hand what is in store for the day.
•Step 1: listen to talk find out about the flow of the experience and put on an apron.
•Step 2: choose metal to work with and and start crafting the knife from the blade.
•Step 3: stretch and forge the blade into the desired shape through heating and hammering.
•Step 4: watch the blade get sharpened and see the timelessly perfected techniques of a master at work.
•Step 5: attach the handle to your freshly made and flawlessly sharpened blade.
•Step 6: have the blade inscribed with your name or any easily writeable inscription.
